I was pleasantly surprised by Ulyana and Maxim showing up for our shoot dressed up in their wedding attire. I had no clue! And to think that I was prepared to tell them off for being 20 minutes late (nah, I don’t really do that). They had a small ceremony at home in Russia and came to Amsterdam for their honeymoon and a wedding photoshoot. Ulyana is the ultimate DIY bride: not only did she do her own make-up and hair, she also made her own bouquet. Her wedding dress and her husband’s bowtie are also her creation.
We started our shoot in Vondelpark and then set off to wander the streets of the Canal District. What made our photo walk even more special was all the kind people we met who kept congratulating them and wishing them a happy life together. Ulyana and Maxim found that very unusual but super friendly and nice (this would never happen in Moscow, they said).
